Family researchers in times past have used "Kisling" as the spelling for John's last name but in fact, on his grave, you can see that both him and his wife Malinda used the "Keesling" spelling on their headstones.

For distinguishing purposes, we need to discover that this John Kisling "Keesling" in the Son of the John Kisling who fought in the Revolutionary War. I don't expect that his name was John Keesling Jr. but some researchers have used this name to tell the two appart.

More info found that other researchers are giving to John the distinguishing prefix of Jr. This may or may not have been part of his name but it does help separate from his Father who was also named John. Also found in some research data the name John Henry Keesling so it could be that he actually had a middle name of Henry.
